University's Mission Medication Disposal
Promoting Safe and Environmentally-Friendly Medication Disposal
.
What is our mission?
Our mission is to create a simple way for our patients to dispose their unused medications. We strive for a product that is safe to use and is as environmentally friendly as possible.
Why should you care about disposing of your unused medication?
-Medications kept beyond their expiration date may no longer reach their intended therapeutic effect.
-Medications can be taken by other people, which adversely effects their health and is a violation of federal law.
-Flushing your medication down the toilet can have unintended consequences for the environment. (NOTE: There are a select few medications that the FDA specifically asks you to flush. Please see this link.)
-Medications can be stolen and sold illegally.
-Medications can be used by minors in pill parties.
